Adding custom departments, categories, and subcategories in Top Rental is easy! Product categories are organized into a hierarchy:
Department (Parent Category)
Category (Child Category)
Subcategory (Grandchild Category)
Understanding this structure will help you efficiently manage your product listings. Follow these steps:
Step 1: Navigate to the Categories tab at the top of your screen.
Step 2: Determine whether the category you want to add should be placed under an existing department. If it fits under an existing department, skip to Step 4. If not, continue to Step 3.
Step 3: To add a new department, type the department name into the bar labeled “Add a new department…” and click the purple plus button.
Step 4: Locate the department—either existing or newly added—where you want to add your custom category. Click the purple button on the far right of that department to proceed.
Step 5: On the next screen, you’ll see a bar at the top labeled “Add a new category…” Type in the custom category name, then click the purple plus button to add it.
Step 6: If you need to add a subcategory, repeat the process. Click the purple button to the far right of the category, and once inside, you can add the desired subcategory.
