Adding a new user to Google Search Console

When you receive an email invitation from NMR to connect your Google account, there is a suggested email address visible in the invitation. This email address is just a suggestion, you can login using a different email account to connect.

However, in many instances, the email address in the invitation is most likely already connected to an existing Search Console account. If you'd like to use a different email address, you should add yourself as an admin to the existing Search Console account.

If you'd prefer to launch a brand new Search Console account with the new email address, click here. Just keep in mind that any existing data from the original account will not be transferred over.

To add yourself to the original Search Console account:

  1. Login to the original Search Console account
*You made need to click the forgot password link if you do not have the login information
  2. Once you're able to successfully login, go to google.com/webmasters
  3. Click the blue Get Started button
  4. Click the Go to Search Console button in the upper right hand corner
  5. In the upper left hand corner, you should see your domain. If it doesn't appear by default, select the dropdown and choose the domain you'd like access to. If you need access to multiple domains, follow the steps below for each domain you select.
  6. Once you have the domain selected, scroll down on the left side and click Settings
  7. Click Users and permissions
  8. Click the blue ADD USER button in the upper right hand corner
  9. Enter the gmail address you'd like to use
  10. For the permission drop down, choose between Owner and Full depending on the access you'd like.
*You can have multiple owners on one account, so selecting Owner would not take someone else's ownership access away.
  11. Click Add
